Pizza … Harvest Style

Okay… I know, the picture here isn’t that enticing… but the idea can save you a lot of time and potentially the waste of day old bread! If you’re like me, you’ll get inspired to carve out time in your busy schedule to actually BAKE a loaf of homemade bread. Sometimes you may actually get into a regulary groove with baking and other times you may find yourself spinning so many plates that you’re surprised they haven’t collided yet. The last thing you want to have happen is for your precious bread to go uneaten. So, what to do with that day old bread??? Well, you can make croutons OR pizza! Those are the two favorites in our home, and today pizza won the vote. Get creative with your Harvest Pizza, and add some of your fall harvest to the dish. Lucky for my kids, I found one small piece of cheddar to put on their pizza… or we’d be going naked. LOL.

You’ll need:
Day old bread (such as Pumpkin Harvest Bread, Beet Bread, etc.)
Your favorite pizza sauce
Cheese of choice
Your favorite pizza toppings

Slice the bread and generously add the pizza sauce. Next come your favorite toppings and cheese. Bake in the oven at 350F until the cheese has melted. Ta-da! A fast and simple lunch, packed full of goodness the little ones won’t even notice!

  1. Also another and delectable use of day old bread is bread pudding. Oh yum. Especially with that pumpkin bread? My mouth is watering!! And don’t forget french toast! You can do the overnight soak kind or the quick and easy dunk, fry method. As you can see, we have lots of day old bread in my house! But it usually becomes toast before I get to make any of these creations! : )
