Oatmeal Irish Soda Bread

Cold days make me want homemade bread.  The aroma wafting through my house warmed me from the inside out while this was in the oven.  I almost burned my fingers as I sliced it up and slathered real, creamy butter on top.  Soda bread is not for everyone, but if you DO like it then try this recipe from 101 Cookbooks. I left it pretty much unaltered except for adding poppy seeds and a light dusting of salt on top.  I like salty bread.  I also used a little more buttermilk than the recipe called for to keep it at the right consistency.

And, yes, this photo is the actual bread made by me in my house before I ate it all up.
